Little victories

I have just a week left in my 100 miles in 30 days challenge and I only have 23 or so miles to go. I'm confident I'll finish in less than 30 days.

I also celebrated a small victory this week: I wore a pair of shorts that I've avoided for nearly a year because they didn't fit like they used to.

You know that pair of running shorts in your drawer. You can still put them on, but they definitely aren't comfortable? Yeah, one of my former favorite pair of shorts moved to that pile just around this time last year.

I've tried not to think about the fact that they didn't quite fit. I shoved the thought as far back into my mind as I could. I know this may be a silly thing to suppress, but for me, this was a big deal.

As I was searching for a clean pair of shorts for one of my runs this week, I found them. Out of curiosity, I put them on and they FIT.

This is a small victory, I know, but a huge encouragement for me. It's easy to get frustrated or down when you don't see immediate results from your dieting and exercise.

I've lost 14 pounds since May 28 and I hope to lose at least 16 more in the coming months. It feels good to begin to feel comfortable in my skin again.
